Lit Review

Week 8!!!!!! WAHOO!!!! So I found the lit review to a little challenging from the get go but once I watched a few more tutorials and started it was easy. I think this was a great beginning step for me for future papers in my college career. I feel I learned more from this review then from the other assignments. Over all I would have to say I learned so much about special education and the use of the IEP. This information will be so useful to me as a student and as a professional even if I don't go into special ed I can use this information as a general educator.I hope you all learned something profound an significant about you subject of research. I really enjoyed this class and think its a class that all students at Brandman could learn something from. I wish all the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Bib Schmib...

Hey everyone,

Can you believe we are already in week 7, its crazy huh!!! Well anyways so I found my bid to be very simple due to most of my previous papers were relevant to my research question and were capable of being used. I also used a bunch of new ones that I really found to be of great assistance to my studies and to my research question. I will say for all of my papers I learned allot about IEP's, IFSP's, the purpose they serve and how we should implement them in my work as a special education teacher. I will most certainly continue to use my research as time goes on and I progress in my academic career. I will continue my research into the use, need and development of the IEP. I think its vital to my success as well as the success of my future students. I did enjoy using the CRAP method for all my papers, and found it beneficial to my decision on what articles and books to use for my research. Well I hope you all are having great success and will continue to have an outstanding year!!! Have a wonderful blessed week!!

Plagiarism...... shame shame.....

Well I have to be honest I didn't really learn much I didn't already know. Plagiarism is pretty much beat into us at a fairly early academic age. I have been hearing about it since like 4th grade, I will say however that I didn't really see using another persons idea as plagiarism but I guess now I will think twice. I will also say that I feel if we spend to much time always citing the work of others we will possibly loose our own insight of what we feel and know. If we keep reading the works of others we push our own individual thought to the back. I may be the only one who thinks this way but hey that's ok with me. Researching is something I love to do but I also like to keep my own ideas at the forefront of my mind. I am not saying keep a closed mind but to remember that not all research is solid proof. I also feel I try my hardest not to plagiarize or misuse the information I read for personal gain. I don't however feel its as severe of an offense as they make it seem, unless your a lazy bum and are just to ignorant to do your work yourself. Well I hope you all have a wonderful week and cant wait to see what everyone else post :)

Here you all go!!!!

Under researched....... Week 5

Throughout all of our papers I am finding that locating information on IEP’s to be very difficult. It still seems to be a very void area of research. We tend to just rely on the law of the educational process and that is it. I am disapointed by this and feel that if we stop trying to research things they cant be fixed. I knew from the get go that I chose a tough subject but never thought it would prove to be this disappointing. I feel like we are reverting back to ignoring those with special needs and we should be at the forefront of research and studies with this. I found researching this type of article to be a huge failure and was forced to locate another empirical article that had surpassed research and already been reviewed. With studies based on special education the information is time sensitive as the law of IDEA requires it to be released almost as quickly as it is received. I really wish I was able to provide exactly what we were looking for but I was still able to locate an amazing article that opened my eyes to problems that exist still today in the world of special education. I am posting the link in hopes that you future educators will read it an learn a thing or two about IEPs. I hope everyone had better luck then I did when researching. Have a wonderful safe and blessed week!!!

Lets look at some journals.

Hey there ya'll,

So I absolutely loved this weeks assignment, I love the use of journals for research. The journal I read was a study about the use of quality IEP's to enhance state standardized testing. Although the study concluded that the grandeur of the IEP had no weight on the state test I still learned a lot about what the a proper IEP should look like and read like.  It gave me lots of things to further research and insight into things I already knew. The reason I like the use of articles so much is that they give us a perspective of our chosen research from peers. They are not renowned authors they are peers or colleges in our chose field of study. We are the future of our chosen field and journals like the ones we read this week can really help us gain a much deeper perspective in our career world. My journal gave me a whole new viewpoint and drive to study the world of effective IEPs on the international level. There is a vastness of knowledge that we have to even begin to tap into.

Hey Ya'll,

So wow this weeks assignment proved to be even more difficult then the last. As I was doing my research I found it hard to find  E-books on IEP's, and Special Ed Law. I found this to be a little dis-consorting in that I feel this is a subject where there should be unlimited number or resources with the need for special education on the rise.  I looked through lots of different online resources and then finally reached out to my mentor. Dr. Margret Dalton, she told me to seek the experts in the field of special ed and special ed law. So off I went on a journey bound and determined to find the answer, and I found it. Peter W.D. Wright Esq, has been the lead authority on Special Ed law since 1993, when he battled the Florence County School District Vs. Shannon Carter, and won over the Supreme Court with a unanimous vote in Shannon's favor. He has been writing laws and IEP standards since then.

In the book All About IEP'S  I learned so much about how to produce a proper IEP and was able to see into the world of IEP's from a different perspective. I learned lots about the difference between effective and ineffective IEP's and how to be a teacher and an advocate. I truly think this is an essential book for both general education, special education teachers and parents. This book gave wonderful in-depth scenarios on how to resolve conflict with IEP's and scenarios to put the whole process in a new perspective.  This book will prove to be a major asset in my library and my studies. I do have to say though throughout this week I didn't really enjoy the online reading of books. I love the feel of a book and the ability to highlight and change the pages as I please. I did find this assignment to be very difficult and as I said before I had to reach out to my mentor and seek her advice. I really hope everyone else found their subject to be one of ease. Have a great week all...
