Plagiarism...... shame shame.....

Well I have to be honest I didn't really learn much I didn't already know. Plagiarism is pretty much beat into us at a fairly early academic age. I have been hearing about it since like 4th grade, I will say however that I didn't really see using another persons idea as plagiarism but I guess now I will think twice. I will also say that I feel if we spend to much time always citing the work of others we will possibly loose our own insight of what we feel and know. If we keep reading the works of others we push our own individual thought to the back. I may be the only one who thinks this way but hey that's ok with me. Researching is something I love to do but I also like to keep my own ideas at the forefront of my mind. I am not saying keep a closed mind but to remember that not all research is solid proof. I also feel I try my hardest not to plagiarize or misuse the information I read for personal gain. I don't however feel its as severe of an offense as they make it seem, unless your a lazy bum and are just to ignorant to do your work yourself. Well I hope you all have a wonderful week and cant wait to see what everyone else post :)

  1. Hi Peggy,

I have written many papers in my pursuit of academic success, and thought I understood plagiarism, loud and clear. Now I am in doubt. After the week 6 assignment I wonder if I unintentionally have used my own material in previous classes without realizing it. I find it strange that if I use my own intellectual property it can be considered cheating. From now on, if I use an essay that I have written for another class, even though it is not technically a published article, I plan to cite it. Week 6 was somewhat of an eye-opener for me, because I have a better understanding of what is considered plagiarism when it comes to my own intellectual property…
