Under researched....... Week 5
Throughout all of our papers I am finding that locating information on IEP’s to be very difficult. It still seems to be a very void area of research. We tend to just rely on the law of the educational process and that is it. I am disapointed by this and feel that if we stop trying to research things they cant be fixed. I knew from the get go that I chose a tough subject but never thought it would prove to be this disappointing. I feel like we are reverting back to ignoring those with special needs and we should be at the forefront of research and studies with this. I found researching this type of article to be a huge failure and was forced to locate another empirical article that had surpassed research and already been reviewed. With studies based on special education the information is time sensitive as the law of IDEA requires it to be released almost as quickly as it is received. I really wish I was able to provide exactly what we were looking for but I was still able to locate an amazing article that opened my eyes to problems that exist still today in the world of special education. I am posting the link in hopes that you future educators will read it an learn a thing or two about IEPs. I hope everyone had better luck then I did when researching. Have a wonderful safe and blessed week!!!

Hi Miss Peggy Ann.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your blog and you are an inspiration with all of your plans to help others. The link, however, only takes me to the log in page for Leatherby Libraries. Maybe just post some of your findings from the study that is helpful. Special education is an issue that still exists after all these years, but what I discovered is the problem of having gifted children is also not addressed.
In California they have what is known as a "gifted program", however that
program still could not meet the needs of my children. I ended up home schooling them and also putting them in junior college classes. My poor son was forced
to take all of his math classes at the high school and the teacher as well as the
students would have him go up to the blackboard and help them understand how to do the math. So he was bored, bored, bored. Education for special needs in whatever form is really something we need to revamp. Good luck with your research and career. Oklahoma is a great place to live!

Hello Peggy!!
ReplyDelete1. I just want to say that I absolutely LOVE your blog and the background!! I now want to make mine pretty too.
Well I am sorry that you are having a hard time with your research. It does get discouraging when the topic you are researching comes up with no answers or information. Don't give up! I absolutely love your topic and your career! The best of luck and I hope your research gets easier! If not, you could be the first person getting information out to the public!
